Presidents Report February 2024

To: All AFHM Members and Supporters

With the groundhog’s early spring prediction we can now go “full swing” ahead with our mobile, Lawrence House venue,  Living History,  and Saturday Speakers Series programs! Some of our “at bat” appearances include:

  • A $10,000 grant award from the Burlington County Board of Commissioners and Parks Service to fund our blacks in the military ” Right to Fight” documentary series. A kickoff presentation is scheduled for February 24th at the Burlington County Historical Society complex at 2pm
  • Initiated discussions with the Comcast advertising division and the Wallet Group,  a digital/QR-Code marketing and communications enterprise, for potential to enhance our promotional outreach and brand recognition
  • Preliminary mobile unit event schedule for the 2024 season that kicks off with the Burlington Mercer Chamber “Steel Mill Street Fair” in May, and ends with the Marine Corps birthday in November. We have a total of twelve events so far and counting!
  • Fundraising efforts through our “One Hope” private label wine offerings and “Tix for Good” sports & entertainment lotteries that have yielded $1000+ to date. A “Super 50/50” NJ gaming license is pending as well
  • Confirmed June 25th date for our 2nd year golf fundraiser outing at the Cream Ridge Country Club. A “Save the Date” notification and flyer details are forthcoming
  • Interviewed by WBCB Radio provide an overview of AFHM and our mission programs. Extended an invitation for them to broadcast live at one of our mobile events this coming season
  • Donated copies of our Revolutionary War children’s book,  as well as Amazon provided portable speakers, laser engravers, and an air fryer to the Bordentown Middle School as a community outreach effort to support their upcoming fundraising auction in April
  • Reached an agreement with the Military Officer’s Association of America (MOAA) to fund at least two JROTC scholarships at select NJ area high schools

In all an impressive start with much more to come for sure. In the meantime get ready to don your warmer weather attire and “Spring” into action!

Respectfully submitted,
