The Armed Forces Heritage Museum (AFHM) announces the opening of their new headquarters and military museum in the Lawrence House on the campus of the Burlington County Historical Society in Burlington, NJ.

Hours of Operation

Weekends 11:00 am – 4:00 pm

WE BRING MILITARY HISTORY TO THE PEOPLE

The opening of the new museum and headquarters brings AFHM full cycle from their original objective to construct a museum at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. Although sanctioned by the Joint Base and the Air Mobility Command, the original project failed to gain the approval of the Pentagon. AFHM then concluded: “If we can’t have people come to the museum, we will take the museum to the people.”

A Mobile Museum was created and has been visiting schools and community events to support the AFHM mission to Honor, Preserve, and Educate the public on the military history of the State of New Jersey and the neighboring regions.

The new museum is inside the home of John Lawrence. He was the father of Captain James Lawrence, a Naval hero of the War of 1812. The dwelling dates to 1740. Visitors to the museum will receive an overview of the American Revolution and examine displays featuring the experiences of local veterans during the World Wars, Korea, Vietnam, and the Gulf Wars.

The Lawrence House is a work in progress. As funding is confirmed, and when the exhibit manufacturer completes the installation, an interactive immersive experience will replace a temporary exhibit in one of the museum rooms. Standby to witness a “Gee-Whiz experience.”
