Presidents Report November 2024
To: All AFHM Members and Supporters
As we approach Thanksgiving this year, I pray that you all will enjoy the holiday with your family and friends, and that you will look to a positive and blessed Christmas season to follow.
AFHM continues to be rewarded with several events and recognitions that serve to promote our all-volunteer non-profit military history organization, including:
- Mobile unit events wrap-up with displays at the Josna Polana “Birdies for the Brave” golf outing and Veterans luncheon at the Masonic Home in Burlington
- Lawrence House tours for a Civil War history group and attendees from a recent RCBC Military History class that was launched in September through their LIFE adult education program
- 13th annual fundraising dinner at O’Connor’s that was attended by 90+ members and supporters who were entertained by singer Joanie Schneider and her trio of musicians. The event raised ~$6k for AFHM mission programs
- Attendance at the annual “Unmasking” fundraising dinner at The Ben in Philadelphia as hosted by the JerseyMan/PhillyMan Magazine Legacy Club and its 400+ business professionals’ members and guests
- Kickoff meeting with a group of Burlington County historical organizations to brainstorm ideas for the upcoming “America 250” celebration in 2026. The session was hosted by the RevWar Alliance non-profit group who will be working with County Historical organizations to help coordinate proposed programs and events, as well as seek out fundraising resources
- Met with the Burlington Arts and Culture Counsel to identify grant funded military history-related programs that could attract more light rail rider traffic to the city as part of a revitalization effort. If accepted some $30k – $50k could be allocated to AFHM for a period of performance from mid-2025 through the end of 2026.
Next up is our holiday social at O’Connor’s on December 13th where we’ll enjoy a light buffet, cash bar, and the 50/50 grand prize drawing that is over $4000 to the winner and still growing!
Respectfully submitted.
Roy Plummer, President AFHM
