On This Date- March 11,1862 Gen. George McClellan removed from command

March 11, 1862 – President Abraham Lincoln removes George McClellen as general-in-chief of
the Union Army. McClellan goes on to other fame after the war, being elected the 24th governor
of New Jersey (1878 – 1881)
