On This Date December 8.1782- Last Officer in the Continental army is killed

December 9, 1782 – On December 9, 1782, Lieutenant Nicholas Morgan, age 28, was guarding
the shore of South Amboy when he was ambushed by Loyalist “refugees” from New York.
Morgan may have been the last officer of the Continental Army to die in the American
Revolution.
