On This Date December 30,1781- The Skirmish at Manahawkin

December 30, 1781 – Several small conflicts and skirmishes took place in New Jersey just
before and after the Battle of Yorktown, representing the final conflicts of the American
Revolution. The Skirmish at Manahawkin took place on December 30 & 31, 1781 when
militiamen clashed with John Bacon and approximately 30 and 40 men, resulting in one death
and one injury
