On This Date May 26,1780- Mutiny in Jockey Hollow, and 3 years later a Jubilee Day

May 26, 1780 -Soldiers of the Fourth and Eighth Connecticut Regiments camped in Jockey
Hollow near Morristown mutinied and refused to obey orders. Distraught over a lack of food and
pay during the harsh winter, they were eventually talked out of their armed protest by officers
they respected.
May 26, 1783 – A Great Jubilee Day held at North Stratford, Connecticut, celebrated the end of
the fighting in the American Revolution
