On This Date April 15,1783 and 1861- the Revolutionary War ends, and the Civil War begins

April 15, 1783 – preliminary articles of peace ending the American Revolutionary War are
ratified.
April 15, 1861 – President Lincoln calls for 75,000 volunteers to quell the insurrection that soon
became the American Civil War. Eventually, over 2 million men would fight for the Union, while
750,000 fought for the Confederacy.
